FAQ
Fertility acupuncture questions
Do you come to my fertility clinic?
Yes, and there are three ways it can work. If your transfer is at New Direction Fertility Center in Gilbert or Scottsdale, we are already there and treat you on-site. If your transfer is at another fertility center, you can come to our office before and after, or we can travel to your center — for that option, please ask your own doctor or coordinator to make a room available first, as we are not able to arrange that on your behalf. Tell us where your transfer is taking place and we will take it from there.
How far ahead should I book my transfer date?
As soon as you know it. Transfer dates can move, so request your date early — we will confirm your exact time once your clinic finalizes the schedule.
When on transfer day do you treat — before, after, or both?
Both. The pre-transfer treatment uses acupuncture points that help calm the nervous system, which relaxes the uterus and decreases cramping and contractions, and points that support dilation of the cervix, making the insertion of embryos easier. The post-transfer treatment continues that work and circulates additional blood to the uterus, nourishing the newly-implanted embryo.
What are your fees, and do you take insurance?
Fees for every treatment are listed on our Jane booking page, so you can see the price before you book. We accept HSA and FSA cards. We do not accept insurance.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Pain tolerance is of course subjective, but most people are pleasantly surprised. While at some sensitive or trigger points there can be initial discomfort (like the feeling of plucking an eyebrow), the incredible relaxation benefits quickly take over. Even the most squeamish patients often leave their session feeling restored, revived and even a bit blissed out.
What should I do before and after an acupuncture treatment?
Be sure you have eaten that day before coming in. Other than that, dress comfortably and plan to take it easy after a treatment. One of the great side-benefits of acupuncture is relaxation — we believe in making that last as long as possible.
